Congratulations to the Publications Student of the Month for August... Allison Lagunes Florida SouthWestern State College! Allison was nominated by her advisor Gabrielly Cordon-Ayala. Here is what Gabrielly shared with us about Allison:
"Allison has demonstrated remarkable leadership and dedication as the Student Media President, transforming the organization from a group with no members to a thriving team of 20. Her passion for student media and her ability to connect with others have made her an extremely well-loved student leader on campus. Recognizing the potential of her growing team, Allison has established new leadership roles, such as Lead Journalist, Lead Photographer, Lead Editor, and Lead Videographer, along with other chair positions. These roles have not only enhanced the structure and efficiency of the team but also helped to build a strong social media presence and promote the group's activities more effectively. Allison is also expanding the focus of Student Media to emphasize journalism and "capturing the student experience" at FSW. Her vision to document campus life has invigorated the team and given members a clear purpose. Currently, she is collaborating with the Sports Information Director to direct, film, and edit a documentary about FSW's National Women's Volleyball Champions, showcasing her initiative and ability to manage high-profile projects. Allison has blossomed as a leader, fostering a dynamic and inclusive environment where team members feel valued and inspired. Her accomplishments reflect her commitment to excellence and her ability to lead with vision and creativity, significantly elevating the presence and impact of Student Media on campus.
Allison has demonstrated exceptional leadership within her group, campus, and the broader community through her proactive and inclusive approach. After attending an overnight leadership retreat, she encouraged all members of the Student Media Team to participate in the upcoming leadership conference, fostering a culture of continuous learning and growth. Allison actively seeks out professional development opportunities and consistently applies what she learns to enhance her leadership skills. She is dedicated to supporting her team by delegating tasks and creating opportunities for others to step into leadership roles, which strengthens the group dynamic and empowers members. Beyond campus, Allison extends her leadership influence by serving as the FCSSGA Director of Social Media, showcasing her commitment to broader community engagement and development."
Congratulations, Allison! Thank you to Ms. Cordon-Ayala for nominating her!
